Lionel Messi and Antonella Rocuzzo – a love story

Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world. As Maradona, he’s an Argentine. So is his girlfriend, Antonella Rocuzzo, a 24  year-old, gorgeous brunette. She is extremely discreet, a student of nutrition and dietetics student and fan of Newell´s Old Boys soccer team back in their homeland, Rosario.

Antonella is a simple girl who dislikes being in the limelight. Despite her relationship with one of the most famous soccer players in the world, Antonella guards her privacy.

She is the daughter of José Roccuzzo, a businessman in the supermarket area, and Patricia Blanco, a devoted housewife. She is what you could call the next door girl.

Messi and Antonella got engaged two years ago and are going strong. They have always been very discreet and their public appearances are scarce.

Argentine love story

The love story between Antonella and Lionel started many years ago. They met when they were just 5 years old, as their families are friends. Antonella is Lionel’s best friend Lucas Scaglia’s cousin, so they basically grew up together.

Lionel moved from Argentina to Spain, Barcelona, when he was very young. He suffered from a growth problem that could not be cured at home, so all the family moved to Europe in order for the kid to have a chance. And he did! Not only did he grow taller than expected, but he became one of the best soccer players in history.

Meanwhile, Antonella remained in Rosario where Messi usually flew back for to the holidays. It was on Christmas vacation in 2009, that  they met again and fell in love with each other.

Although they tried to keep a low profile, Argentine magazines kept showcasing the couple, and publishing pictures of them walking on the beach or going about. their everyday life. When they were spotted together at a Sitges Carnival, the world buzzed with news of their budding romance. Still, they didn’t confirm it for another year.

Antonella lives in Rosario but she travels, from time to time, to Barcelona to meet her beloved “Pulga.” Sometimes it is Messi who flies to Argentina. They have an apartment in the best area of Buenos Aires, on the 34th floor of the Chateau Tower of Puerto Madero.
