Lionel Messi and Antonella Rocuzzo – a love story

Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world. As Maradona, he’s an Argentine. So is his girlfriend, Antonella Rocuzzo, a 24  year-old, gorgeous brunette. She is extremely discreet, a student of nutrition and dietetics student and fan of Newell´s Old Boys soccer team back in their homeland, Rosario.
Antonella is a simple girl who dislikes being in the limelight. Despite her relationship with one of the most famous soccer players in the world, Antonella guards her privacy.
She is the daughter of José Roccuzzo, a businessman in the supermarket area, and Patricia Blanco, a devoted housewife. She is what you could call the next door girl.
Messi and Antonella got engaged two years ago and are going strong. They have always been very discreet and their public appearances are scarce.
Argentine love story
The love story between Antonella and Lionel started many years ago. They met when they were just 5 years old, as their families are friends. Antonella is Lionel’s best friend Lucas Scaglia’s cousin, so they basically grew up together.
Lionel moved from Argentina to Spain, Barcelona, when he was very young. He suffered from a growth problem that could not be cured at home, so all the family moved to Europe in order for the kid to have a chance. And he did! Not only did he grow taller than expected, but he became one of the best soccer players in history.
Meanwhile, Antonella remained in Rosario where Messi usually flew back for to the holidays. It was on Christmas vacation in 2009, that  they met again and fell in love with each other.
Although they tried to keep a low profile, Argentine magazines kept showcasing the couple, and publishing pictures of them walking on the beach or going about. their everyday life. When they were spotted together at a Sitges Carnival, the world buzzed with news of their budding romance. Still, they didn’t confirm it for another year.
Antonella lives in Rosario but she travels, from time to time, to Barcelona to meet her beloved “Pulga.” Sometimes it is Messi who flies to Argentina. They have an apartment in the best area of Buenos Aires, on the 34th floor of the Chateau Tower of Puerto Madero.

Lionel Messi Personal Life
The Argentinean star is about to become a father and is thankful to God that He has given him everything in not only the footballing world but also in his personal life.
Lionel Messi is about to become a father and the Argentinean maestro is going to be receiving another trophy in his personal life.
The Barcelona number 10 is easily one of the most decorated players in terms of individual awards.
Lionel Messi has won each and everything when it comes down to individual honours. However, the only thing which he lacks is the ultimate prize, the FIFA World Cup.
The Argentinean star is usually accused of underperforming with his national team and there is no doubt that he is at another level when he is playing for La Blaugrana.
The Catalan giants have managed to win each and every trophy within their vicinity.
In Josep Guardiola’s very first season in charge of the Catalan club, Barcelona were able to win six trophies.
It was for the first time that a team managed to win all six trophies in a single season and it is a record which stands to date as no other team has managed to repeat this feat.
Since Messi has been performing phenomenally for his club, and has finally started to show the same run of form for his national side, things are going well for him.
The Argentinean star has also revealed that he is about to become a father and while discussing his personal life with the press, he thanked God that He has always helped him in his life.
After managing to become an extraordinary player, Messi is now about to become a father and according to him he is very anxious as it can happen anytime.
While speaking about his personal life, the Argentinean star said:
“I thank God for all he has given me in my sporting life and on a personal level. Now I can’t wait to hold my son in my arms and I’m a little more anxious as it could happen at any time.”
“I’m anxious for my family and my girlfriend, but at the same time I’m relaxed and thankful that thanks to God everything is going well. It’s going to be a beautiful responsibility and I’m waiting for that moment.”
“I’ve still not bought him a football, maybe when he’s older, but I’m sure he’s going to be a Barcelona
 fan.”
Lionel Messi is currently on international duty as the world of football will see the FIFA World Cup 2014’s qualifiers being held all around the globe.

Lionel Messi appearances for Argentina

Football is my world
Often referred to as an Argentinian-Spanish player, this crossover was brought into sharp focus when in 2004, Lionel was offered the chance to play for the Spanish national U-20 team. He declined the offer given his Argentinian heritage, and was given the opportunity to play for Argentina's U-20 team in a friendly match against Paraguay in June 2004. Messi scored once against Paraguay and twice in friendly against Uruguay in July 2004. In 2005 he was part of a team that finished third in 2005 South American Youth Championship in Colombia. He won the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands with the team and won the Golden Ball and the Golden Shoe, scoring in the last four of Argentina's matches and netting a total of six for the tournament.
He made his full international debut on 17 August 2005 against Hungary at the age of 18. He was substituted on during the 63rd minute, but was sent off on the 65th minute because the referee, Markus Merk, claimed that Messi had allegedly elbowed defender Vilmos Vanczák, who was tugging Messi's shirt. The decision was contentious and Maradona even claimed the decision was pre-meditated. Messi was later reportedly found weeping in the changing rooms after the decision. Messi returned to the team on 3 September in Argentina's 1–0 World Cup qualifier away defeat to Paraguay. Ahead of the match he had said "This is a re-debut. The first one was a bit short." He then started his first game for Argentina against Peru, in which he was able to win a crucial penalty for Argentina; after the match Pekerman described Messi as "a jewel".He scored his first goal for Argentina in a friendly match against Croatia on 1March 2006.Messi has been compared to compatriot Diego Maradona, due to their similar playing style and stature, which gives him a lower centre of gravity than most players, allowing him to be more agile and change direction more quickly, helping him to evade tackles. His short, strong legs allow him to excel in short bursts of acceleration and his quick feet allow him to keep control of the ball when dribbling at speed. His former FC Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, once stated: “Messi is the only player that runs faster with the ball than he does without it.” Like Maradona before him, Messi is dominantly a left footed player. With the outside of his left foot, he usually begins dribbling runs, whilst he uses the inside of his foot to finish and provide passes and assists to team mates.
Messi often undertakes individual dribbling runs towards goal, in particular during counterattacks, usually starting from the halfway line, or the right side of the pitch, although he has also been described as a versatile team player, with good vision, known for his passing and his creative combinations, in particular with Barcelona team mates Xavi and Iniesta. He is also an accurate set piece and penalty kick taker. With regards to his dribbling ability, Maradona has said of Messi: "The ball stays glued to his foot; I’ve seen great players in my career, but I’ve never seen anyone with Messi's ball control.
Tactically, Messi plays a free attacking and occasionally a playmaking role, known for his finishing, pace, dribbling, balance, positioning, vision and passing ability. He is comfortable attacking on either wing or through the centre of the pitch. He began his career as a left-winger and forward, but was later moved onto the right wing by former manager Frank Rijkaard, who noticed that from this position, Messi could cut through the defence into the middle of the pitch more easily, allowing him to curl shots on goal with his left foot, rather than predominantly crossing balls for team mates. He has more recently played in a false 9 role under Guardiola. This role is characterized by Messi's tendency to seemingly be playing as a centre forward, or as a lone striker, although he will often run back into deep positions drawing defenders with him, creating space for wingers, other forwards, and attacking midfielders to make runs, allowing him to provide them with assists or giving him space to begin dribbling runs, score goals or create attacking plays. With the Argentinian National team, Messi usually plays anywhere along the front line. He began as a forward or winger but has also played in a deeper role, in particular under Maradona, in more of an attacking midfield and playmaking role. Messi revealed that he is a fan of the former Argentina playmaker Pablo Aimar.
